The film has a complex tale hence needs a lot of concentration to unfold.
Here’s me telling you the good and bad aspects of the film, so that you guys can ultimately decide whether to spend time on it or not? How Inspector Jatil Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) takes over the case and slowly the dark secrets of the family unravel is the premise of Raat Akeli Hai. The film is a thriller revolving around a mysterious murder of the head of a dysfunctional family which occurs on the night of a wedding. Nawazuddin Siddiqui & Radhika Apte, I was extremely intrigued. But when I saw the first look of ‘Raat Akeli Hai’, a Netflix original film starring the Kohli & Dhoni of Netflix India i.e. Even though Netflix produced few good projects in between like Bard of Blood, Guilty, Maska, Hasmukh and Betaal, none of them got an universal appeal. We also got some forgettable films from Netflix like ‘House Arrest’, the absolutely unwatchable ‘Drive’ and the very disappointing ‘Ghost Stories’. The horror series, ‘Typewriter’ despite having a good star-cast didn’t reach its potential.
We saw the failure of much anticipated ‘Sacred Games Season 2’, then came ‘Leila’, a dystopian web-series starring Huma Qureshi was a complete disaster. But as 2019 rolled around the corner the content of Netflix has massively disappointed its audience. Even the Radhika Apte starrer ‘Ghoul’ was a unique attempt.
In 2018 when Netflix started producing web content for India with ‘Sacred Games’, it grabbed the attention of audience in large numbers and then came ‘Lust Stories’ which was a very well made anthology film.
